The business objective of Belfast City Council is to promote the city as a place to do business and to help grow a sustainable, forward looking economy supported by a flexible and dynamic workforce.
To achieve this Belfast City Council promotes business start-ups; supports business growth; encourages innovation and development in key growth sectors; promotes the benefits of Belfast as a dynamic business location; and helps create the right skills to match local business needs. Belfast City Council works in partnership with central and local government and other public sector bodies, the private and voluntary sectors and the local community to achieve these goals and address the challenges at the heart of the city's economy. Belfast City Council launched the Belfast: Future City initiative as a mechanism to facilitate citywide discussions around strategic priorities for the city's development. Following the successful conference in 2013, Belfast City Council is committed to continuing this city wide conversation through its annual conference for city leaders and other initiatives.
